The JEdit project is developing a text editor similar to Notepad. It is also planned to be an alternative to the vi editor. JEdit can be used as a standalone or integrated into any Java application. Besides that it has powerful text editing and syntax highlighting capabilities.

JEdit is a 100% Java program and it can run under any Java 1.1.x and later version. The project is distributed under GNU GPLv2 license.

JEdit comes with many ready to use skins. Also, there are several skins for Emacs editor, as well as for OpenOffice. It is highly recommended to use one of these skins to make JEdit look better.

JEdit is a Java application and it needs the JDK. The JDK is installed when you want to run JEdit.

JEdit Java Project – is an independent Java project. You don’t need any additional or extra installation to use it.

The project is managed by the JEdit team (Stefan Hirche ) and has over 200 members.

Since the beginning of JEdit development JEdit has been developed in SourceForge project (for example JEdit 3.3.8 here). But now the project is maintained in its own separate Git repository located here. You can contribute to the project in the main Git repository or the project tracker in SourceForge.

WinLock Professional is a software security solution designed to help you protect your computer against unauthorized use.
This type of tool is strongly recommended if you share your computer with multiple individuals.
The interface of the application is clean and pretty intuitive. So, you can enable the protection mode by specifying a password, as well as make WinLock Professional use separate security settings for each user account.
The program can be set to automatically turn on the protection status on system startup, enable a shutdown Windows menu and save the password in the Settings profile. But you can also enable system monitoring, hide the system tray icon, as well as select the priority level and interface language.

WinLock Professional Review:

I need to be able to shutdown my computer remotely, so that anyone who accesses my computer is forced to allow shutdown, and they are told what to do. It is a help to me that WinLock is a user-based program. I can be the only user and it will lock out everyone else. Another great feature is that it is intuitive and simple to use.
